Layer - Transparency: Anchor Layer, then Add Alpha channel;  Fuzzy (Feather or Wand) Select for transparent background erase.
 Eraser; Windows - Recently closed - Layers
 Tansparent png: Select - By Color (white); Layer - Transparency - Add Alpha Channel;
  Rectangle Select Tool; Layer to Image Size; then Crop Tool to Select All
  Color to Alpha; Save color values from transparent pixels
 After pasting transparent youtube play button: Layer - Anchor Layer
 To resize Berlin-BerlinerPhilharmonie20150514
  Allow growing, then hit space, -> Layer to Image Size for transparent new size, Rectangle select all!
  Image -> Canvas size=390 (Resize Layers: All layers)

  Select > By color, click a pixel, Bucket Fill

  Windows > Dockable Dialogs > Layers > Create a duplicate layer (at bottom) double click & name it Foreground
  Colours>Levels drag the white arrow under input levels to left
  Right click the ‘Foreground’ layer, select ‘Add Layer Mask’ and select ‘Black (full transparency).
  Use Brush tool to paint subject white in the layer mask to make it visible over the background image

Add Alpha Channel, Duplicate Layer, name it 'mask', Colors - Desaturate Brightness 50, Contrast 35

Color Correction

Filters -> Blur for softening effect

For drawing, use KolourPaint
